Who is Al Merrick?

Once upon a time I was a restless IT professional who decided a life networking computers just wasn't blowing my hair back. I kicked around for a couple of years doing some consulting work, then decided the time was right to put up or shut up. I'd been writing for several years, but hadn't gotten serious about it (as serious as I can get, anyway). I've always wanted to write books and am excited to finally be doing it!

I've recently completed my first novel, which will be released in July, and am fast a work on the second in the series. I write crime mysteries revolving around LAPD Police Detective Terry Nines and his partner Doug Maxwell. I also have an idea for an espionage series that I'll get into once I've established myself and worked out the new career kinks.

My books are fairly dialogue driven and I try to keep true to the language my characters would use (i.e. if this was a movie, it would be probably be rated R). I'm thrilled to finally be doing something I love to do for a living. Certainly much hard work, but it's amazing how things get rolling when you're having some fun!
